Knight Library Additions at University of Oregon

This technically demanding five-story, 237,000 sf renovation was made more challenging by having the facility remain open for the duration of the project. Except for the immediate areas under construction, students and staff were allowed to use all areas of the building. Constructed in 1935, the library held many surprises. The project scope included seismic upgrades, a new elevator, complete renovation of the mechanical and electrical systems and new finishes throughout, all while maintaining the stringent temperature and humidity controls for the library's irreplaceable 40,000 volume rare book collection.
